ĢƵ Signs Agreement with Rowan College at Gloucester County
Sewell, NJ - The presidents of ĢƵ in Galloway Township and Rowan College at Gloucester County have signed a new dual admission and transfer partnership that will help students make a smooth transition from the two-year college to ĢƵ’s bachelor’s degree program.
The Transfer Pathways agreement builds a strong relationship between ĢƵ and Rowan College at Gloucester County by offering multiple opportunities for students to seamlessly pursue associate and bachelor’s degrees at the two institutions of higher education.
“Rowan College at Gloucester County is excited to enter into this transfer agreement with ĢƵ,” Vice President, Academic Services Brenden Rickards said. “This agreement will strengthen our long standing partnership with ĢƵ and allow more efficient communication and transfer for students interested in transferring to ĢƵ from Rowan College at Gloucester County. For students, this provides access to transfer programs at ĢƵ that do not exist with other partners and enhances their educational transfer opportunities. We look forward to growing our relationship.”
ĢƵ Chief Enrollment Management Officer Robert Heinrich said the agreement will give students access to ĢƵ services while they attend Rowan College at Gloucester County.
“Transfer Pathways is an exciting new dual admission option,” Heinrich said. “If a student applies to ĢƵ but is not initially accepted as a freshman, through the Transfer Pathways program we offer the opportunity for conditional acceptance at Rowan College of Gloucester County. If students are already enrolled at Rowan College of Gloucester County, they can apply for conditional acceptance while they work toward their associate degree at the partner institution.”
The terms of the agreement include:
- Students who are denied direct admission to ĢƵ as a freshman applicant can receive conditional dual admission in partnership with Rowan College at Gloucester County. Students will attend classes at RCGC but have access to campus activities and student groups at ĢƵ and receive a special ĢƵ Identification card through ĢƵ’s Transfer Pathways program.
- Students already enrolled at RCGC can apply for conditional acceptance to ĢƵ while continuing to work toward their associate degree, and be assured of acceptance prior to the term in which they are ready to transfer.
- Students who successfully complete their associate degree at RCGC can automatically transfer to ĢƵ with junior standing to complete their bachelor’s degree. Application fees to ĢƵ will be waived for eligible students.
- Students who complete at least 36 credits at RCGC and a total of 64 credits between the county college and the four-year institution, are eligible to receive a retroactive associate degree from RCGC. ĢƵ and RCGC will co-host “reverse transfer” information sessions for students.
- ĢƵ and RCGC will develop specific program-to-program articulation agreements for high-demand majors to facilitate the quality and ease of transfer.
- Students will receive joint advising from ĢƵ and RCGC and a ĢƵ advisor will have office space and a regular schedule at RCGC.
- Students will be eligible for financial aid from whichever institution they are attending. ĢƵ will provide five one-year scholarships of $2,000 per year to RCGC graduates whose admission to ĢƵ is covered by the agreement.
- ĢƵ and RCGC will establish an advisory committee to ensure best practices in recruitment, enrollment management, academic and student services, information technology, marketing and facilities use.
ĢƵ already has similar agreements with Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Camden County College, Cumberland County College, Mercer County Community College and Ocean County College and is pursuing additional partnerships with other community colleges in the state.
