The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Foundation's annual Golf Classic at Renault Winery and Resort on Sept. 17 raised $100,000 to go toward student scholarships and essential initiatives powered by the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Fund.

Galloway, N.J. – Nearly 200 community members spent a beautiful day on the course raising $100,000 for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ scholarship and program support during the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Foundation’s annual Golf Classic at Renault Winery and Resort on Sept. 17.

“The golfers and volunteers who unite to support this event reflect our community’s commitment to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ students. Their philanthropy empowers our Ospreys to soar higher by eliminating the barriers many students face today,â€ said Dan Nugent, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ’s vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Foundation.

This year’s tournament featured contests for all skill levels, including Men’s and Women’s Closest to the Pin, Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive, Tournament Champion and a $10,000 Hole-in-One Challenge. Students on the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Women’s Golf team also led a putting contest, with the proceeds benefitting the team through new equipment and apparel. Off the course, participants tested their luck in the 50/50 raffle and Tito’s Spirit Grab.

The annual event raises funds for scholarships and essential initiatives powered by the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Fund, which helps Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ students access experiential learning opportunities, such as internships on and off campus.

For alumna Calli Votta ’21, MSW ‘23, the experience of spending the day supporting Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ was rewarding.

“It was wonderful to reconnect with the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ community, meet and interact with faculty, and see firsthand the continued support and pride that surrounds the university,â€ she said.

“Being able to participate in an event that not only brings alumni and community members together, but also creates opportunities and support for current students, made the day especially meaningful,â€ Votta continued. “It was a great reminder of how strong the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ community is and how important it is to give back to the campus that gave so much to me."

The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Foundation is dedicated to removing barriers to student success. Each year, more than $1 million is awarded in scholarships, supports university programs, academics and provides essential resources to help Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ students succeed.
