Galloway Township, NJ The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority of the Richard Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ College of New Jersey will host the First Annual Fire and Ice AIDS Walk at the College Sunday, October 2, 2005 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. The event will take place on the track on the athletic fields adjacent to parking lot 4.
Registration fee for the Walk is $5, with all proceeds going to the South Jersey AIDS Alliance. Donations are also welcome. Checks or money orders may be sent to The Richard Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ College Office of Student Development, P.O. Box 195, Pomona NJ 08240, and Attn: Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc.
To date, there is no cure for AIDS, but there are ways to make a very big difference, said Raymond Royster, spokesperson for Alpha Phi Alpha. Prevention, testing and education are the key ways to prevent the ongoing spread of HIV/AIDS. By focusing on these key features, we can reduce the rate of infection and help those who are coping with this disease. On Oct. 2 our goals are to educate and to raise funds.
In conjunction with the AIDS Walk, The Public Health Society of the College will be hosting a Health Fair in the lower K-Wing Gallery, also on October 2 from 10 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. For additional information, contact the Office of Student Development at 609-652-4205.
